[Der Ostsee] [Der Ostsee p3]

Der Ostsee
I have to begin with a little German lesion. In German language “See” has different meanings, depending on the gender of the word. “Der See” means a lake. “Die See” means an ocean. Now, the Baltic Sea is called “Die Ostsee” in German, which imposes, that it is a real ocean. Which, of course it is not. At least in terms of decent waves. The Baltic Sea is just too small / to narrow / too shallow to produce more than choppy and weak wind wobbles. That´s why I tend to call it “Der Ostsee” which means something like “The Baltic Lake”.
Nevertheless, “Der Ostsee” is the closest body of water near Hamburg and therefore the first option for a quick surfing or windsurfing session for people living in this area. Usually windsurfing is the better option but sometimes certain patterns come together and offer fun surf sessions for the ones who know where to go.
The following pages feature one of these days that combined nice windsurfing, fun surfing and sunny skies.
