On our way home right through the dark mountains it really became clear that we had been a long way away from the beaten tracks and crowded spots...

On our second attempt, Chia showed it´s real potential. After the first glimpse of the clean peeling waves with sideoffshore Wind behind the sand dunes rigging was done at a fanatic pace in a new record time.

Unfortunately the wind was a bit lo light and gusty to get it 100% perfect, with the dunes creating a wind shadow in the impact zone it was a gamble to get out with a lot of attempts ending by being tossed back to the beach in a pile! Chris Opitz was the man of the day in the new discipline „swimming out and scoring waves“ while Klaus couldn´t hold back some sarcastic remarks about Chias potential and vowing not to return to this wave spot without slalom equipment....

Next day saw our team on the way to the Sinis-Peninsula, right at the west coast of Sardegna. Funtana Meiga was the destination of the day. It felt a bit strange when all the local windsurfers left the water when we arrived. We soon found out that this wasn´t due to respect for our arrival, more due to the wind speed that left us totally out of control heading for the next ramp.

The local wind system, the Mistral, gave everything it got on this day, resulting in some  rather spectacular crashes and wipeouts right on the shallow reef. Funtana Meiga proved to be without easy access – or a safety zone as Klaus would put it – so our team was shone in front of the spectators due to real teamwork in true mountaineering style, getting back to the beach in the next bay by tackling the cliffs.
