Windsurfing obviously had initiated a small local tourist “industry” as back in my early Moroccan days there was nothing like a hostel here. There was not even a camp ground. But I didn´t deplore the end of the “wild times” here as this time I had no van and my girlfriend had not much traveling experience and no Morocco experience at all. So a little “safe harbour” would be fine.

The hostel turned out to be a small building with a patio in local building style and was run by very hosts. The room was simple but functional and clean and we were welcomed with an excellent Moroccan dinner consisting of grilled fish, salad and a cake as dessert. This would be the perfect base camp for getting started and hopefully score a few windsurf and / or surf sessions at this excellent beach.

The river mouth, where we used to camp in the late eighties had completely changed. There must have been a massive flood that had swept all over the place. Where there was a field before there was a riverbed now. Everything had been swept away save the few trees that had given us shadow at our former base camp.
