datrip: I like your statement about getting too old…… (I´m 44, but don´t tell anybody).

Talking about age, many inlanders infected with the surf bug sooner or later come to the point where all the travelling necessary to get to surf gets more difficult and starts to tire you. That leads to the desire to move to a place close enough to the ocean to surf with less travelling effort. Is that a thing that could happen to you? Do you have plans to move permanently to a place at the ocean?

Vanja: hey hey tom, ça va?!, I currently work a Swiss as flighty, that´s why I´m traveling and flying that much:)me love it!
We're not getting any younger Tom! So we have to suck up every minute of our lives and do what we most love:)
Moving to a place at the ocean is pretty much what I am looking for. Actually the things are coming closer for me travelling another year around OZ and Samoa Island next year. Also Papua New Guinea will be a destination of desire. Everything is working fine for me and I give it a try to move eastside for a certain time... as long as I like it, ´cause I am a bit of a rolling stone. I´m happy as long as I can move and discover new things and places. It really blows my mind:) and when the time is right, I will settle down somewhere, having my own fruit and vegetable garden with some animals around it and a good surf in front of it :)

datrip: sounds good! At the moment I´d die for a fruit garden with a good wave in the front yard……..

How do you get along with those foreign cultures? I mean, Samoa and Papua New Guinea are quite a bit different to where you come from. Do you thing you can settle in these cultures deeply enough to really live there? (I personally made the experience that in the end I need quite a lot of European Culture to feel comfortable enough for really living at a place).

Vanja: Yeah you’re right that’s same with me, I do need some western culture and I miss it after a long trip through the jungle, but I can imagine to travel and live there for a certain time. I mean after two months I always get to the point where I just pray for a big mac or a pizza, who doesn’t? :) but you can still live somewhere, where you're able to switch between places you like and which are close to you... Switzerland isn’t close to anywhere and in the middle of nowhere :)... so far one of my favourite places is indo, but it's kind of an on/off relationship, but I would never be the one who quits. I still love to return there, also I do like to get back to what I call normal life... I never had problems with different cultures, I just prefer some more then others. It's more a question of where you feel comfortable and lucky I got time to find out where it would be :)

datrip: Van, thanks a lot for the interview! I enjoyed it very much!
