If it wouldn´t have been that cold – despite bright sunshine and a light offshore, air temperatures were still in the low single digits range – this could have been a good winter day at the Atlantic. And I wasn´t the only one rubbing my eyes about that Atlantic-style vista at the North Sea. Later on, I read this FB-Quote by Sara Sandahl: When Martin looks like a dwarf there is something crazy going on...

For me it was time to make a decision now. I had kept an eye on the less spectacular but nice, smooth and long left inside the bay and was ready to paddle out there for an easy longboard session. But my photographer heart was anxious to miss some more of this rare if not once-in-a-decade swell spectacle at the reefs.

In the end I calculated that another good session inside the bay – I didn´t feel ready to tackle the reef with a swell like this – was not worth missing the visual sensations that might continue to happen at the serious breaks. My photographer heart won and after having spotted some beautiful peaks over at the other reef in the distance I started the van and drove over.
