Monday morning I was confronted with the negative aspects of the limited extension of this pond. Even though the wind had picked up again after midnight for a couple of hours there were just tiny ripples left on the sea. As there is no way – almost no way, to be precise – for open ocean swells to reach these shores, the surf is dependent on local wind systems. When the wind stops blowing, the waves stop rolling shortly after. In this case it would have meant to get up at first light around four in the morning instead of seven.

I had two more days and I needed some more surf. So I checked the forecasts for the area. They were not very promising to say the least. I checked the forecasts for the Danish North Sea coast. They were very promising. So I started to check options, calculating distances and ferry costs, estimating the time it would take me to get to Thy. There was a possibility to score an evening session and more on Tuesday. I hesitated. I had paid all that money to get here and was still eager to explore more of the area. I decided to go for a bike ride on the peninsula. That was nice, but back at the van I still didn´t know what to do.

I checked the forecasts again. The one for the Danish North Sea coast was looking brilliant. The forecast for the coast where I currently was, looked pathetic. The forecast for the Baltic Sea coast looked, hmm that was hard to judge.
