At daylight, the house was beautiful, and located right above the shores of a stunning beach, but with the nightly ambience, with ravens on the old church roof, and old, mossy Celtic crosses on the churchyard, we were absolutely on the leading edge for the upcoming Halloween parties. On Halloweens eve, our private graveyard was covered with dense fog and remained all-silent. No wonder, because obviously, all residents seemed to have gathered in the affectionately decorated pubs. Some locations were really set up in an amazing way, despite the fact that some of the pubs as well as some of the local residents would not have needed any decoration or costumes to have a terrifying appearance. But that’s just to be noted in the margin…

One of the recurring adventures of the famous five is the hunt for smugglers, and for bandits, which made ships run ashore in storms and heavy weather, in order to plunder… OK… there it was… storms and heavy weather… they are also mentioned frequently in the novels. In the middle of this area, you will find a long and sandy beach called Gwithian, which is notorious and legendary for it’s waves and it’s selective conditions.

Beforehand, we need to admit that we were not lucky enough to encounter a real storm. Throughout the entire season, the wind had been a little patchy, and did not really play ball. Mostly, it was only on the edge for planning, but with a side-offshore direction, and nice and pretty impressive waves, it made up for some great down-the-line windsurfing sessions.
