These were exactly the rare gem conditions I had been regularly hunting a few years ago. And it was the sort of conditions which justified a day trip despite the long drive. I checked Re-open-EU and realized that I did not need a special purpose to be allowed into Denmark. A max 48 hours old negative Covid test was all I needed.

Due to the nature of the swell generating low and the long time the waves needed to travel to Denmark, I had enough time to cancel business dates and check if soe of my buddies could join me. Two of them had dates for Covid jabs at the day the swell would arrive, and the rest had job / family issues that prevented them from joining. So, I had to go alone and was hoping that enough other surfers would have similar obstacles which would prevent them to go surfing on a Thursday and the local crowds would be light.

Early Wednesday evening I hit the road and had only light traffic all the way up north. I generally enjoyed being on the road for a surf trip. Midsummer days are long in northern Denmark and it doesn´t really get dark on cloudless days like this, with the sky still shimmering in beautiful orange, red and violet tones around midnight.
