Grand Plage:

Living up to it´s name that large beach named Grand Plage stretches along the northerly base of the Quiberon peninsula. It starts right at the isthmus at Phentièvre and runs for about 5km all the way to Kerhilio. The part of that large beach that still belongs to the peninsula is referred to as grand plage and has three major accesses to the beach.

At the little town of Phentiévre the beach is sheltered from open ocean swells by a string of small islands just offshore. The beach is all sand. In Phentiévre You´ll find a bakery and a few bars. Renting houses is possible.

surfing: There is very little surf passing those islands so it´s a good place for beginner surfers.

windsurfing / kiteboarding: With westerly winds that come full onshore on the other spots here You´ll get sideonshore windsurfing and kiteboarding conditions with moderate waves. Best wind directions are south, southwest to west.

Other sports: At low tide there is a lot of room at the than very large beach which is regurarely used by beach sailors. There is a scool for these vehicles right at the beach.

Further more in direction to Plouharnel / Carnac there is a small road leading to a large parking area called Mané Guen. The area is all sand dunes with sparse vegetation and a fine sand beach. Swells from the west to north reach this beachbreak unhindered.

surfing: Classic beachbreak that works best on low to mid tide. High tide makes it a shorebreak wave. Best wind direction is east. Depending on the size of swell it´s a place for both wourlds, longboards and shortboards. To avoid crowds that can get pretty big walk up or down the beach from the parking lot. Most of the surfers are too lazy to do that.....

windsurfing: with winds from the south to southwest this can become a fun wavesailing spot, even when these conditions are usually accompanied with rain. Clean sideshore conditions with winds from the left and rippable waves offer good jumping and slashing.

kiteboarding: as long as it´s not high tide there is plenty of space at this beach to launch Your weapons. All wind directions but east work good. Summer has almost allways a good afternoon breaze whilest the rest of the year favours small kites.

A parking lot similar to Mané Guen is found about one km north. The orientation of that beach is slightly different to Mané Guen but the conditions are allmost exactly the same.
