La Caleta quick info

climate:

temperatures in summer around 30o C, in winter around 20o C, water temps around 18 to 20o C year round.

It rains regularely but never long in winter. Summer is pretty dry.

wind:

in summer predominantly trade winds, NE and very light in the morning, NE with usually force 4 to 5 in the afternoon, sideonshore from the right. Winter has less tradewinds and more winds from local systems.

Best wind direction for windsurfing is east to east-northeast which comes perfectly sideshore from the right. West can also work but has to pass the mountains and the buildings which makes it pretty gusty.

waves:

The place gets a lot of waves year round as it´s north facing coast catches north atlantic swells. Best time is winter, autumn and spring. Summer is still pretty consistant.

La Caleta has a reef that produces good rights and o.k. lefts. Waves brake over reasonably shallow water.

Best wind direction for surfing is southeast to southwest.
