It had become overcast now and when I reached the pass again it started to rain. It was a Norwegian style rain, which meant that within a minute I was soaking wet. I raced down the serpentines and was freezing cold soon and therefore was quite happy when I reached the fjord and the flatter parts of the road again where I could least warm up a little bit by the cycling effort now needed again. Close to the bridge spanning the western entrance into the fjord it stopped to rain and once back at the campground, the sun was out again. I got into dry clothes, had a hot coffee, and sat in the sun for a while to warm up.

It was late morning now and there was still plenty of daytime left and the weather was too good to rest, so I started the van to drive further inland for more exploration of the area. At the lake in the Espedalen valley I had a stop for a quick snack with a view and then continued to the back end of the valley and the entrance to another valley, the Rossdalen. This valley had looked interesting on the map and once I parked my van at the end of the road, it looked even more interesting.
